ADHD Coaching:

  • Help students identify goals and break them into manageable chunks to allow a student to see the discrepancy between Where They Are and Where They Should Be.
  • Help them identify obstacles (watching TV, using mobile) and assets (teacher notes, practice tests)
  • Create goals that are student-driven and realistic
  • Estimate how long a task will take and learn to prioritize important tasks
  • Identify what keeps them stuck (whether in their head or in the environment) and help change their perspective and have small, achievable goals
  • Strike a healthy balance between academics and fun activities and improve time management
  • Assess and restructure their physical environment to fit their needs. They will learn how to develop appropriate workspaces at home and at school, how to manage and upkeep desks, backpacks, lockers and rooms
  • Learn how to make lists of tasks and steps, and how to identify distractions that interfere with concentration
  • Learn the skills of focus, information-processing and decision-making
  • Develop the confidence to seek help from their teachers, peers, family or other outside resources.
  • Learn how to persevere and endure difficult academic and social-emotional situations.
  • Improve interaction with peers
  • Compensate for their weaknesses and maximize their strengths
  • Develop awareness of how ADHD affects your child cognitively, behaviourally and emotionally so parents can provide appropriate support and help
  • Allow parents an opportunity to express specific areas of concern and needs.
  • Learn communication techniques to reduce conflict with their child
  • Child will learn how to become aware of their sensory needs and be taught specific strategies and tools so their bodies and minds are in the best possible state for learning
  • The final coaching session will also focus on strategies learned, progress on goals, long-term goal development and planning
