Child ADHD Coaching

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common medical condition that causes kids or adults to have trouble focussing, paying attention and controlling their behaviour. It is a neuro-developmental disorder that has biological, genetic and hereditary components.

The Symptoms Can Include:

  • Inattention- careless, inattentive, disorganised, distractive, forgetful
  • Hyperactivity- fidgety, loud, on-the-go, runs/climbs, talkative
  • Impulsivity- blurts out, interrupts, impatient, difficulty with self-regulation.

ADHD Can Impact:

  • Academics
  • Peer relationships or friendships
  • Behaviours both at home and school
  • Self-esteem and overall well-being.

Having a child with ADHD affects the parents in many ways, such as

  • The demands of the child can be physically exhausting
  • The need to monitor the child’s activities and actions can be psychologically exhausting
  • The child’s inability to “listen” is frustrating
  • The child’s behaviours, and your knowledge of their consequences, can make you anxious and stressed.
  • Frustration can lead to anger and guilt about being angry at your child
